Desert Island Discs 2009

If you had to pick eight albums to take with you to a desert island, which ones would you pick? (Since I’m not likely to be invited onto the BBC show, this is it I guess)

Self-made compilations are not allowed, for purposes of this exercise. I tried to avoid best-ofs, compilations and anthologies as well. But I found I just couldn’t.

My Desert Island Discs are:

Pulse
by Pink Floyd
Not because its my favorite album, but because it has most of their best songs, as well as the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, performed live.

Mothership
by Led Zeppelin

Swan Song
by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan
This doesn’t have my favorite song by the Nusrat. (Halka Halka Suroor) But I guess thats the point. Eight Albums, what do you leave behind?

Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, Bernstein conducting. 1989.

Essential Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble

John Denver Live at the Sydney Opera House

One
by The Beatles

Hits
by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

_____________

What are your Desert Island Discs?

I wish the Collected Soundtracks of Quentin Tarantino’s movies existed. I’d probably put that on the list.
